Our story began long before Alam Farma was ever created.
I grew up in Bali surrounded by women who understood the wisdom of plants long before wellness became a trend. Some of my earliest memories are of sitting quietly in our family kitchen watching my mother, aunties, and grandmother prepare oils, herbs, and traditional remedies by hand. The kitchen carried the scent of fresh turmeric, coconut oil warming slowly on the stove, cloves, flowers, and herbs drying beneath the afternoon sun.
At the Heart of It All: Restoring Balance

Turmeric was grated fresh onto stone, leaving golden stains across our fingertips and bowls. Coconut oil was used for everything, for cooking, for healing, for skin, and for hair. In the garden behind the house, moringa leaves dried quietly beneath the Bali sun, gathered not because they were fashionable, but because they had always been part of everyday life.
Where We Come From Matters
The women in my family never separated beauty from nourishment. What cared for the body could also care for the skin. There was no overcomplication, no excessive ingredients, and no marketing language, only simple botanical wisdom passed gently from one generation to the next.
As I grew older, I realised how deeply those memories had shaped me. Alam Farma was born from that remembering, a desire to honour the traditions of Indonesian women and reconnect skincare to the land it comes from.
As an Indonesian women-owned business, Alam Farma is rooted in nature, ritual, and the quiet wisdom carried through generations. Our name, Alam, means ‘nature’ in Indonesian, and nature remains at the centre of everything we create.
Beyond the Beauty Industry
In the cool highlands of Bedugul, Bali, many of the plants and herbs connected to our skincare philosophy are cultivated and studied within our gardens. We also work alongside smallholder farmers and local communities across Indonesia, sourcing ingredients with care, intention, and respect for the land.
Our formulations are guided by simplicity and ingredient integrity, whole botanicals, cold-pressed oils, hydrosols, and traditional plant knowledge thoughtfully crafted into modern rituals.
For us, skincare has never been only about appearance. It is about connection, to the earth, to memory, to ritual, and to the rhythms of nature.
Every formulation we create carries a piece of those childhood memories with it, the scent of coconut oil warming in the kitchen, turmeric stained fingertips, herbs drying in the garden, and the quiet presence of the women who taught me that the land already provides everything we need.

Our impact doesn’t stop at skincare. On Sumba Island, we’ve launched a community-led Moringa Initiative to support nutrition and local resilience. Through a simple one-for-one model, every product you purchase allows us to donate organic Moringa powder to families in need—offering nourishment, strength, and hope to children across the region.
But this is only the beginning.
We’re also developing regenerative travel experiences in Sumba, inviting guests into the heart of our work—where wellness meets cultural preservation, where healing happens in relationship with the land.
